BA3a Format Change (Weeks 1 – 3)
This blog will now be undergoing a slight change of pace.
To make updates more fluid and less patchy the format of this blog will be changing from things being posted as and when, to a more organised once a week post.
Because of the change this post will encompass weeks 1 – 3, instaid of just 1 week.
This should add to a cleaner easier to read and update blog.
This weeks Updates are as Follows:
Insect Brief is Finished, But I am endeavouring to build on the work I have created in my spare time.
Last Weeks Slides.
Studio project has been developed so that it now ties in perfectly with the Research report.
This weeks Project has been Thrown to us, and it seems like an interesting one, create an Orrery.

Further Research
Decided as My first sketch didn’t really remind me of the style much, to go back and take a look at the design process and art style of the studio a bit more.
The Monster Concepts seem to be made of of a mixture of character model and information images, line work is much more refined than my own has been, need to really get on my game now.
Same with the Armor concepting. I really need to make up some base humans to try out the armor on.
Even the cat’s have lil model sheets X3.

Directed Study
So I finally got around to checking all my emails, and read through the directed study brief.
I have to say this feels quite exciting, doing work for our dream jobs.
I’ve decided I want to take a look at the monster hunter games for my brief, and get to grips with the design work that revolves around the creation of the creatures and the subsequent armor sets and weapons that come with them.
Monster hunter has always had a special place in my heart since it first came out over here on the Playstation 2, even with it’s awful controls on that system I found the whole concept of weapons and armors that directly related to the creatures they were made from incredibly interesting.
From a design perspective I found it facinating, many monsters armors and weapons that needed mechanics and stats relating as well as looks and feels.
I shall be conceptualizing with a mixture of Zbrush, and 2D programs, as i find that concepting creature designs can be much more fluid in Zbrush, but Armor creation comes more naturally to me in 2D. not to say I won’t try both in either of these methods anyhow.
I shall start by gathering some Imagery quick and fast for inspiration.

Below: Shogan Cenataur and It’s a Armour set.
Below: Nargacougar and it’s respective Armor set.
